FIRST is an anthology of creative writing produced by students at the University of Canberra.
Students have the opportunity to submit creative work for consideration for publication to this anthology each year. Interested students also have the opportunity to work on the small editorial committee alongside teaching staff, experienced in editing and publishing, who act as guides and mentors. In this environment students have the chance of producing a professional anthology of quality work, increasing their skills base and knowledge about the publishing industry.
The Frank Frankie by Ingrid Jonach
Ingrid invites adults and children alike to the official launch of her children's novel The Frank Frankie. Ingrid graduated from the University of Canberra in 2005 with a Bachelor of Arts in Professional Writing and a Bachelor of Communication (Honours).
The University of Canberra has established an agreement with the internationally renowned School of Literature and Creative Writing at the University of East Anglia.
Celebrated graduates of East Anglia’s Master of Arts in Creative Writing include Booker Prize winners Ian McEwan and Kazuo Ishiguro and novelist Tracey Chevalier. Teachers in the program have included Angela Carter, Rose Tremain and Andrew Motion, current Poet Laureate of Great Britain.
On Sunday 19 February 2007 Francesca Rendle-Short exhibited a series of drawings, entitled A Book of Breathing, in an exhibition at Schloss Haldenstein, Switzerland.

As Inside Film recently reported Creative Communication lecturer Felicity Packard is one of three writers developing and writing a 13 part mini series about the Melbourne gangland murders.
Immediately after completing my professional writing degree, I took up a position editing government recruitment advertising. Though this paid very well it was slowly but surely turning my brain to mush. I gave it up and went to work at BMA magazine (the local street press) as their Advertising and Marketing Manager. In my time there I was able to introduce a film section and became the film editor. All the while I slowly engineered my working week to involve more writing time.

Clare Young is a graduate of media production and creative writing.
Clare Young makes her living freelancing for a variety of productions, including commercials, educational videos, fictional films, and documentary. She has worked in freelance capacity for EOR Media, Bearcage Productions, Channel Seven, Big Shell, and Revolver Film. Recently ABC Stateline employed Clare to produce and direct a half hour special for Stateline, titled Eyes down and welcome to Hay.
