Some staff in the School of Creative Communication share an interest in India, from a cultural studies perspective, with the School of Languages and International Studies. The University of Canberra has a MOA with Jawaharlal National University (JNU) in New Delhi — most particularly with the School of ????? — through which student and staff exchanges in both directions may be organised.
This year Dr Greg Battye travelled to Patan in north-west India to speak at the (name of conf), and several post graduate students from JNU presented there also. Prof. Peter Putnis, Dr Auriol Weigold and Dr Greg Battye from the Division of Communication and Education presented at the (name of conf) in Pune in ?Jan 2006.
The School of Creative Communication and the School of Languages and International Studies (LIS) will cooperate this year in re-staging the India Update seminars, envisioned and originally organised by Dr Weigold from LIS.
Students interested in postgraduate projects dealing with Indian cultural issues, particularly with an emphasis on connections between India and Australia, are encouraged to approach either Dr Battye or Dr Weigold to discuss their ideas.
